Hello, my name is Dr. Ray Sullivan. I have been practicing professional hypnosis and hypnotherapy in Ventura County since 2006. I specialize in hypnosis for health and well-being, which covers everything from managing pain, reliving anxieties and stress over medical procedures to using imagery to facilitate healing as well as establishing health new lifestyles, developing and maintaining health positive relationships, and navigating successful careers and finding personally meaningful lives. I use expertise in psychology, hypnotherapy, hypnosis, self-hypnosis, mediation, and mindfulness to help my clients improve the quality of their lives.
I am long-term practitioner of self-hypnosis, meditation, and mindfulness. I first encountered self-hypnosis and imagery in my teens as a competitive swimmer. Later, I began to study and practice mindfulness and various meditations methods. I received my hypnotherapy certification from the Hypnotherapy Academy in Sante Fe and I studied for my doctorate at Pacifica Graduate Institute by focusing on Depth Psychology; the psychology of the unconscious, the psychology of Freud and Jung.
My current interests include positive psychology, interpersonal neurobiology, and brain fitness. I became interested in brain fitness after I witnessed my father succumb to dementia in his later years. I am a cancer survivor and I used my practice of self-hypnosis, imagery, meditation, and mindfulness during my chemotherapy and radiation treatments. You may find articles on these and various related topics in my blog.
I have been married to my wife Carole for sixteen years and I am very familiar with highs and lows of deeply committed relationships. I am also a father and grandfather and as such I optimistically look towards the future. I envision a world in which all have opportunities to define and pursue goals that are personally meaningful to them.
I can support you in achieving your goals through my knowledge, expertise, and experiences. Whatever your health or well-being challenges maybe, I can share with you methods to help to cope with your situation or help you make the lifestyle changes that you desire.
